Members Health Plan NJ (MHPNJ) has filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy
Note: We have very limited information at this time and will keep you updated as additional information becomes available. Below is the communication released by Members Health Plan NJ.
The Affiliated Physicians and Employers Master Trust (APEMT) d/b/a Members Health Plan NJ (MHPNJ) filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy on 5/24/2021 to provide the protections necessary to move forward with either a continued rehabilitation plan or a wind down plan. Please note, APEMT is working hard to preserve our options and continues to seek outside funding and provide alternative plans to our regulators in an effort to continue Plan operations.
However, in the meantime, the Board of Trustees on behalf of the Plan has agreed to hold off on the release of the July renewal documents for the Employers with a July 1, 2021 renewal date while we continue to work with our regulators. Should you need to obtain other coverage in the meantime for your July renewals, we understand. The Plan has also ceased selling new business at this time and will advise once we know more about our direction.
You will be receiving a notice within the next day or so advising you of this Chapter 11 filing.
We understand that this is information that you may want to share publicly, however we request you do not distribute this as we are still working with our regulators on options and want to ensure that we do not create additional confusion in the market as this continues to be a fluid situation.
The Plan will provide additional information as it becomes available and will communicate with all brokers, employers and employees.
In the meantime, if you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Plan by calling 1-833-MEWANOW (1-833-639-2669) Option 7 or email us at MHPNJinfo@concordmgt.com.
