As per Governor Murphy’s recent executive order both health and dental small group policyholders are allowed a 60 day premium grace period due to COVID-19 hardships. This allows small groups to extend the current 30 day grace period an additional 30 days.
To help clarify, below is information pertaining to the Premium Grace Period Policy for each New Jersey Carrier:
AmeriHealth

Horizon
- Horizon will be notifying policyholders of their premium grace period policy which can be found on page 13 of their COVID-19 Resource Guide
Members Health Plan
Although the grace period executive order does not apply to self-funded plans, Members Health Plan will provide a 45-day grace period, or longer on a case-by-case basis. They are trying to be as flexible as possible; if you have a MHPNJ member group who is in a hardship situation, please have them email mewabilling@concordmgt.com or call 833-639-2669, press option 5 to speak to a member of their billing department.
Oxford New Jersey
Oxford New Jersey will send letters as follows to policyholders outlining their premium grace period policy:
- Sample letter for small group policyholders that have paid through April
- Sample letter for small group policyholders that are unpaid for April and prior months
- Sample letter for NJ Individual Exchange members
