UHC/Oxford: Montefiore Health Systems Out-of-Network

Montefiore Health Systems Out-of-Network for UHC/Oxford Effective January 1, 2020
UHC/Oxford has advised that they were unable to reach an agreement with Montefiore Health System despite months of negotiations. As a result, Montefiore’s hospitals and physicians are now out-of-network for UHC/Oxford plans, effective January 1, 2021. Consistent with state regulations, members enrolled in fully insured commercial plans will continue to have in-network access to Montefiore’s hospitals until March 1, 2021.
UHC/Oxford will be focusing on making sure members have uninterrupted access to the care they need and help support them as they transition to new care providers.
- Some hospitals remaining in-network in the area include Mount Sinai Health System, New York Presbyterian, Westchester Medical Center and NYC Health + Hospitals.
- For members who are actively undergoing treatment at a Montefiore facility or with a Montefiore physician, continuity of care provides continued in-network benefits for a period of time. Members should call the number on the back of their health plan ID card to see if they qualify.
- They have updated their microsite — uhc.com/montefiore — to notify members of Montefiore’s decision to leave their network, and to ensure they have the information they need about alternative care providers as well as continuity of care.
- The enclosed communication provides a list of neighboring network hospitals and details about when members will lose in-network access, depending on their plan type.
